A luxurious black tea from the highest peak in the Wuyi Mountains range. Hand-picked during Spring from only the buds of the tea plant, it takes thousands of buds just to make a single pound of finished tea. The dry leaves showcase short twisty buds with downy, golden tips. This tea brews a rich golden liquor with honey-like viscosity. Every brew reveals depth of flavour reminiscent of the rocky, mineral-rich terroir it is from, with low astringency and an exotic fragrance that fills the air.

This tea is pure 100% loose leaf tea, without artificial flavourings and additives. Made by artisans.

FROM GARDEN TO CUP

Huang Gang Shan (黄岗山) is the highest peak in the Wuyi mountain range and it’s also the birthplace of famous black teas like Lapsang Souchong and Jin Jun Mei. At 1,600m elevation, Ms. Chen’s tea garden is shrouded by fog and rocky terroir that contributes to the making of this exquisite black tea.

What makes Jin Jun Mei so special is that it is made up of only tea buds. It means that it takes around 50,000 tiny buds just to make 500g of finished tea. During Spring, the first tiny buds of the tea plants are harvested by skilled tea pickers. After a long and cold Winter’s sleep, these buds are fresh and full of invigorating flavour. Once fully fermented, the dry leaves will have a downy and golden appearance.

The taste of Jin Jun Mei is undeniably heavenly. When the tea leaves get revived by water, you’ll first whiff a fragrance of orchid, rose and an exotic sweet scent reminiscent of chempedak, jackfruit or roasted bananas. The liquor is bright orange with a honey-like viscosity. Enduring multiple steeps, Jin Jun Mei has little to no astringency, only an intoxicating allure.
