Lapsang Souchong • 正山小种

Lapsang Souchong • 正山小种

正山小种 (Zheng Shan Xiao Zhong) literally means a small leaf from the mountain. It refers to a type of black tea made from a small leaf cultivar grown in this geographical area of Fujian. Over time, the Western world converted the Chinese name to ‘Lapsang Souchong’.

Usually when you try Lapsang Souchong in a Western tea salon, it would be a smoky black tea. This has misled many to believe Lapsang as a smoky tea, when in actual fact lower quality leaves from the region are smoked and sold to the Western market.

Our Lapsang Souchong is unsmoked and allows the natural flavours of the tea to come through.
